Liku the Game – Educational Tool for Soil Conservation

Welcome to Liku the Game’s Official Website
A revolutionary mobile game designed to combat soil erosion and promote sustainable agricultural practices in Ethiopia.

About the Project

Liku the Game is an interactive mobile game developed by Enechawet Games in collaboration with the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture and GIZ Ethiopia. The game is aimed at empowering Development Agents (DAs) and farmers with the knowledge and tools they need to combat soil erosion using the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE).

Through gamification, Liku provides players with a deep understanding of soil erosion factors and sustainable farming techniques, enabling them to make better decisions for land management and conservation.

Game Overview

Key Features of Liku the Game:

    • Interactive Learning: Learn about the Universal Soil Loss Equation (USLE) and its components: R, K, LS, C, and P factors.

    • Real-World Application: Experiment with soil conservation techniques like terracing, cover cropping, and contour farming in the game.

    • Engaging Gameplay: Players take on the role of a land manager and apply their knowledge to solve soil erosion problems in simulated environments.

    • Sustainable Practices: Promote sustainable farming practices while preventing soil degradation.

Intended Learning Objectives

The game is designed to meet the following learning objectives:

    • Understand Soil Erosion: Recognize the primary factors contributing to soil erosion, including climate, soil, slope, vegetation, and conservation practices.

    • Apply the USLE: Learn to use the Universal Soil Loss Equation to predict soil erosion risk and apply conservation methods effectively.

    • Promote Sustainable Practices: Equip players with knowledge about sustainable land management to combat soil erosion in real-life agricultural environments.

For Development Agents & Farmers

Liku the Game is specifically designed for Development Agents (DAs) and farmers in Ethiopia. By playing the game, they can:

    • Improve their understanding of the USLE and how it relates to soil erosion.

    • Gain hands-on experience in using conservation methods through interactive gameplay.

    • Build their confidence in advising farmers on soil conservation and sustainable agricultural practices.
